Ministerial Internship Program (MIP) Married (Spouse not attending) Candidate

This is the Ministerial Internship Program (MIP) for a married (Spouse not attending) candidate. Explanation of the Program The MIP is comprised of three parts: (1) four courses on the Bible, doctrine, and leadership (2) a supervised practicum with a pastor (3) eight monthly seminars The courses are completed through individual study by using the Internet study venue. MIP candidates are assigned to supervising pastors who will provide knowledge about ministry and give opportunity to develop skills for ministry during a supervised practicum. The assignments of MIP candidates to supervising pastors are made on the basis of personal training needs, geographical factors, and availability. Except in unusual circumstances, candidates are assigned to supervision under a pastor other than their own pastor. The eight monthly seminars cover a range of materials that address ministry topics and issues. The seminars complement and add to the experience of the supervised practicum. During the MIP, the candidates and spouses follow a daily schedule of spiritual, academic, and physical assignments. These involve the completion of the online courses, the supervised practicum, the eight seminars, and weekly mentoring meetings and monthly evaluations by the supervising pastor. At the conclusion of MIP, the candidates are commissioned and awarded recognition of completion of this phase of the ministerial licensure process and are eligible to advance to ordained minister. NOTE: Candidates who have taken the Old and or New Testament survey courses from an accredited school and received a grade of C or higher must provide a transcript to the MTTM MIP Coordinator and enroll in supplemental courses assigned by the COG MIP coordinator.
